About Whispering Shadows

Whispering Shadows is a library of reader-written horror — ghost stories, creeping dread, cosmic unease, the kind of thing you read with one lamp on. Anyone can read it for free. Anyone can join and write for it too.

What makes it a library, not a feed

Right now, stories publish the moment you submit them — we're not running a review queue at this stage of the library. That's a choice for right now, not a permanent one: everything posted is still expected to follow our Community Guidelines, and a keeper can remove anything that's reported and doesn't.

What's welcome here

This is a horror site. Blood, corpses, ghosts, cults, cosmic horror, disturbing and unsettling themes — that's the genre, not a violation, and our moderation treats it that way. What isn't welcome is harassment, spam, impersonation, or content that crosses from fictional horror into real harm. The full line is drawn in our Community Guidelines.

Reading is free; writing is a small commitment

You can read every approved story on the shelves without an account. Publishing your own, commenting, bookmarking, following authors, or reacting to a story means signing up — small enough friction to keep the library a place people actually tend, not just post to.
